76... 75... 74...

Join a drama/ theatre group, Be in a play/ musical, Perfect an accent and use it in drama: All check!!!

A few weeks ago my friend Sam and I saw an advert for auditions for a local production of Fame by Rare Productions. We decided to go to the audition and see what it was all about, seeing as the storyline of Fame has always intrigued me somewhat, as well as wanting to have something to preoccupy us. Turns out, the auditions were packed! There were two dates, and the first (which we attended) at least saw 300 hopefuls audition - really says something about the lack of artistic productions in Essex, doesn't it?
Not expecting too much, a week later both Sam and I received lead roles in the production!!!! I will be playing Serena, who is the role I would have chosen given the chance. It will be so nice for once NOT to play a psycho/ freak! A production like this really brings people together when practising, and already we have met some great new people!
Oh, and the performance requires an American accent for the role. So three in one! The role also consists of two singing solos... why?!?!?!?

For anyone interested and in the area; there are four performances from May the 6th - 8th. It's an open performance so any one's welcome to come along and watch!

Audition for CENTRALLLL

Today I got an email through inviting me to audition for the Central School of Speech and Drama in March. As in one of THE best drama schools you could ever possibly attend. As in THE only drama school I've dreamed of going to since I was tiny (other than that I've always been more of a uni person!).
The fact that I have to learn 4 monologues is enough to send me into a raging panic. But no, I have to SING on top of that! It's going to be interesting...

Audition for CSSD: check

So I can 'check' this off because I've sent off my application; whether or not I get offered an audition is out of my hands. As a budding drama student, it's only natural that I apply for Central - despite it being practically impossible to get in unless you already have an academy award under your belt! :)
Still, pleasing news that Surrey university accepted me to study Theatre Studies, on the condition that I achieve 320 UCAS points. This means that I have to crack on working, and that the blog may have to take a back seat for a while - don't fear! I still have 5 months left to complete the remaining 77 tasks!

Oh, and Happy 2010 :)
